Hi Tom pyromentra is an infection of the uterus I understand.
I picked up a bitch that had puss coming from uterus. I assume shes was on hormones. I put her on a 10 day antibiotic coarse. Over the following weeks shes trialled resonably ok but not showing her aussie form at all. Shes been racin every week from 18 months old and, she is now 26 months.
I thinking to get bloods done asap. Shes not drowsey or anything like that. Any ideas?

Hi Lectroman, One of the problems with treating an infection in the cervix or uterus is that these areas are not readily accessible to any antibiotics given orally, simply because there is no direct connection between the blood vessels and the source of the infection. The only way to effectively treat this type of infection is with several infusions directly into the affected area. This would also require having a swab done and the invading bacteria identified to target it with the right type of antibiotic. This means a trip to the Vet. Lets hope it is not Pyometra as that is a nasty disease. For further info this link may be worth looking at: Pyometra & Uterus InfectionCheers, Tom
