Hi Anthony,
It certainly sounds like he would have caused a considerable amount of muscle strain to both the neck and upper spine.
Other than having him checked thoroughly for injuries all I can suggest is a nice hot hydro bath with plenty of attention given to the area from the back of the head through to the upper spine and down both shoulders.
If that’s not possible a good massage to the area mentioned, and then an application of a warmth producing liniment.
If the weather is at all cool a rug to keep the area warm certainly would not go astray, and if the dog is at all hesitant with moving freely tomorrow the massage and liniment is worth repeating.
Cheers, Tom

Hi Anthony
Because as you say there is no swelling or fluid in the area of the bruising it’s highly likely that it was caused by getting tangled in the lure arm.
However you really can’t afford to take the risk and assume that this is all it is, because the same symptoms occur when there is muscle damage.
My advice would be to massage the bruised areas with Hirudoid or Lasonil cream morning and night for five days, and no running behind the lure for at least another ten days to give any possible muscle injuries a chance to get on the way to recovering.
Have a real good look at the areas that are currently bruised after his next couple of gallops to make sure any injuries have fully healed.
Cheers, Tom
