Hi Tom The thigh muscle on my boy has gone slightly red,he raced at the weekend and ran great Checked him over he was fine Day off the next day when we got back from walk next day his leg is slightly red, no swelling or lameness or pain I have been icing What treatment do you advise Thanks Tony

Hi Tony,
There is a possibility that the redness under the skin of the thigh muscle is leaking down from muscle tissue located above this area.
So carefully check the lower edge of the Tensor Facia and the Sartorius. Other than that massaging with a warmth producing liniment such as iodised oil twice daily for three days, and four or five good stretches of the limb after each massage should be sufficient.

Thanks Tom The redness has gone after a day of icing How long should I keep him off? Is he ok to go for walks in the meantime ? Thanks Tony

Definitely right to walk as much as you like, and all up a week on the lead from when you first iced the thigh should be enough.
First run back a hand slip up a straight, and then recheck the muscle tissue.
If all good back into work as normal.
