Hi Jed,
Under normal circumstances the testicles of a pup drop around two to three months of age into the scrotum and stay there. However at times the tubes that attach the testicle may not form correctly and stop a testicle from dropping, or be a little tight pulling the testicle back up again.
The tubes and nerves from the testicle pas through an opening called the Inguinal ring which generally starts ti tighten and close from three months to six months of age as the testicle grows stopping it from going back up again, or if the testicle is up in the groin from descending properly.
My advice in your situation would be to check the location of the testicle on a weekly basis and if it’s up to gently relocate it to the scrotum, and stretch it down to stretch the tubes slightly until such time as the Inguinal ring tightens enough to stop it from going back up again.
Cheers, Tom
