Hey tom, just wondering your opinions on training greyhounds from a standard home. im a young guy that lives 1.5 hours from my closest track. i have plenty of leesh free beaches 2 minutes walk from my house, my pet greyhound LOVES sprinting up and down it. i have an oval that measures around 250 meters close to home, and a 27 hole golf course. i dont plan to attempt training for another year, as i want to learn as much as possible before i spend the money on all the little bits and pieces i need to start training. 1 positive is that i no an older guy who has been on and off training for years, so when his litter of pups return to his place in may ill be helping him out when possible. so although i dont have the access to get to the track every few days for a trial, do you feel its still possible to train with any success from home. (i also better add i have time mornings and evenings to walk the dog) so times not a worry for me, should my location be? thanks

Hi James,
I for one can see no problems at all for you training racing greyhounds from your location, as you have some ideal areas to provide sufficient galloping for your greyhounds to both get, and maintain fitness.
The only problem you could strike if you allow the average greyhound free running in an area that is not enclosed, is that unlike your pet greyhound, they may take off and not come back when you call them.
This is more likely to happen if you allow two or more greyhounds to run together.
Cheers, Tom
