Hi Mark & Donnie,
Olive leaf extract is certainly a good general health benefit supplement especially when it comes to the immune system, and while it certainly does not appear to contain anything that could possibly result in a positive swab, I would personally be inclined not to give anything to a racing greyhound other than food and possibly a well known vitamin/mineral mixtures within 24 hours of racing just in case some contamination occurred during the manufacturing process especially if it was an imported product.
In regard to pearl barley juice it certainly has no benefit at all giving it within 48 hours pre race and will do more harm than good if given too close to a race as like any diuretic it can cause a loss of potassium from the system and thereby can have a negative effect on performance.
But then as a gentle diuretic it can be of great benefit after a race.
Cheers, Tom
