hi tom just wondering can you give me some advise on the treatment of this problem,its my first time coming across it in a greyhound,i took the dog to the vet after he showed some swelling and discomfort when I checked him after a schooling trial,and have since researched it in the bible that is the care of the racing greyhound but was hoping to get your take on it

Hi John,
No matter what it is called, a curb or a bowed tendon, it is still a tendon injury, and treatment will depend to a large extent on the severity of the damage.
In a tendon injury treatment keep in mind that a tendon can only function efficiently if the small fibres that make up a tendon are capable of minutely sliding past each other, and therefore adhesion and scar tissue is to be minimised as much as possible.
So that means anti inflammatory treatment initially, and with follow up treatment designed to strengthen and maintain functionality of the tendon.
