For breakie will give wholemeal bread honey tin sardines 1 day then 1 cooked egg the next & cup goats milk what high in nutrients . Will it take at least 6 weeks for the gain feed go get into the dogs system . Would it also be a benefit to start it on black tar or wait . Cheers donna

Hi Donna,
To improve the pad surface we generally used a product called Friars Balsam twice daily every second day for a couple of weeks. I'm embarrassed to say that I have no idea if it's still available. Most astringents will do the job to some extent but you do need to be careful that it does not harden the surface excessively and cause it to split.
In regard to Black Tar, because I have no personal experience with this product you will have to decide when it would be suitable to use, or any benefits it's use may have based on your own past experience with this product.
Cheers, Tom
