Hi Donna,
Firstly I'm not a great fan of giving racing greyhounds a lot of vitamin mixtures as I have never found them to provide any noticable benefits and believe you me I have certainly done enough long term experiments in this regard, however about half the recommended dose of your favourite vitamin mixture is not going to do any harm and may axtually be of some benefit in the long term.
Because I'm not familiar with the vitamin mixture you have quoted it is difficult to recommend the addition of either calcium or vitamin E as you would need to check the formulation listed on the container to see what it contains in regard to both vitamin E and calcium. If it contains neither certainly add the appropriate quantity of both.
As far as vitamin C pre-race is concerned I have again done a lot of experiments with various dosages and have never found any noticable benefits of doing so either on the greyhounds performance or their after race recovery. The other problem with large doses of oral vitamin C is that this can often cause heartburn, and even head aches, nausea, and stomach cramp or pain. If this occurred it would certainly wipe out any posible benefits of providing vitamin C pre-race.
Cheers, Tom
