Greetings Tom,
If you underfeed meat/protein to a race dog would it drastically affect performance ie 10/15 lengths
for example i feed bread/meat. the dog should get say 600g but i feed around 450g(just to avoid kidney and other trouble) and bulk up with bread/veg
would this greatly affect racing-i dont mean a length or 2 but say 10 lengths
any opinion appreciated.

Jay Hi Jay, No it should not reduce a dogs ability to perform by 10 lengths as the only two items that will do that are illness or injury, however bulking a racing greyhounds food quantity with veggies is certainly not good for the dog as dogs are not vegetarians and do require that a substantial portion of the diet consists of meat. Varying the type of protein by adding chicken and cooked rice to the existing portion of red meat would be better as vegetables are going to leave the dog extremely short of useable energy.
