Hi all
Has anyone on here had any allergic or anaphylactic reactions to using levamisole in their dogs as a booster when not racing?? What is the dose rate used and how often. I have only found 10mg/kg for the oral large animal liquid the 7.5% w/v formulation in any searches that i have done. Is this safe and correct dosages. What are the experiences of others with this???
Thanks all S

Hi Steven,
The only reference I have made in regard to Levamisole is its use in an attempt to try and kickstart the immune system, and while I have provided a basic dosage and use directions it is a dangerous drug if used too often. Excessive use has been known to depress white cell production by the bone marrow and as such can actually harm the immune system.
These are the directions I have provided, but I would certainly not recommend that this be used more than once over a twelve month period.
Treatment for a depressed immune system. 4 ml (50 mg) Levamisole, twice daily for 14 days 1 Glutamine Complex (400 mg) tablet given twice daily on an empty stomach, for 14 days 1 level teaspoon of Vitamin C powder (Calcium Ascorbate) per day for 14 days 1/4 teaspoon of Vitamin E powder per day for 14 days
Cheers, Tom
