Hi tom after a dog has raced it's felxi car tendon has slight swelling on the off leg and bruising. wrist can be flexed and can stretch front leg out without it hanging down its parallel to the ground..... what could be the problem what is best treatment and how long to leave off before galloping.

Hi Toms,
Mate there is no doubt in my mind that swelling of any description after a run can only be caused by an injury, and in this instance it more than likely involved damage to the fibers of the flexor tendon or the muscle that operates it.
In that situation the only logical course of action would be to have the area carefully examined by a Vet experienced in greyhound racing injuries, and allow him/her to advise you on the best course of action.
Unfortunately unless appropriate treatment is undertaken in an area that contains tendon fibers any injury to those fibers can cause them to adhere together and form hard scar tissue that will adversely affect the ability of the dog to run comfortably, and I have seen that type of injury permanently stop a dog racing career.
