Hi Tom,
I have a greyhound who is a very good greyhound and has won races already but has Arthritis in his front wrist which has been treated over 4 weeks with Centrophen and has now finished his dosage with success as he is trialling well but I would like to know if there is anything I can use on the wrist to keep the wrist good and not stiffen up on me, would something like Zeng Ghu Shui be good enough and if so how often do i put it on the dog keeping in mind i would like to race him.
Thanks

Hi Guest,
If it is available to you use iodized oil on the wrist after each run for the next six runs behind the lure, that is for both trials and races.
The best method to use this is to firstly rub iodized oil right around the wrist joint to 50 mm above and below the wrist. Then cut a piece of cotton wool the right size so that it just wraps fully around the wrist big enough to cover the area coated with oxidized oil. Split the cotton wool in the center so that you finish up with two thinner pieces. Place one section on an old saucer and soak it with iodized oil and wrap around the wrist making sure some of it is tucked into the hollow above the stopper bone, cover with the other section of cotton wool, and a light layer of vet wrap.
Muzzle the dog so that it can't remove the bandage and leave on overnight.
In most instances I have found this method very effective in reducing the inflammation and strain that may be caused by the run behind the lure, and over time it does also improve the soundness of the wrist.
Cheers, Tom
