Torn neck muscle

I have a 17mth old bitch who has a torn neck muscle about 2ins at the feel of it sustained while fighting the skin wasn't torn
very tender to touch and I'm using ultra sound to treat, how long before I can consider galloping her, would you expect any long term problems, thanks Joe

Hi Tapwatcher,

To be honest my preference would be to have the torn muscle tissue stitched to avoid long term problems, however, in most instances you should be able to give her light work such as a hand slip or free gallop up a straight after 14 days.
