Hi Mark,
As with all injections (I’m assuming it is the injectable form) the main concern is lingering pain at the injection site nullifying the gains made by the substance that has been injected, if the injection is given within 24 hours of a race.
This of course only applies if the injection is given intramuscular and not in the vein.
Because I’m personally not comfortable with intravenous injections, I have used 2ml in each back leg 48 hours prior to racing, and then again after the race to aid recovery with good success.
I have always found it far more important to use substances such as Tridenosin and Tripart after strenuous exercise to speed recovery, rather than using them to try and boost the performance, simply because the faster the dog recovers from a run the better prepared it is for the next one.

Hi mark,
The only ingredient in Tridenosin that maybe be of some benefit 5 hours prior to racing is the ATP, and the quantity of ATP in 2ml is only a very small amount.
I believe having had injections myself in the muscle tissue which ached for 24 hours that the benefit gained is not worth the pain it is likely to cause the dog, and the detrimental effect this could have on it race performance.
If you did wish to use it closer to the race than 48 hours, you would be better off just injecting 2ml in each back leg, a total of 4ml, at 24 hours prior.

Hi Tom will using 5ml IV 24 hours before a race return a positive in todays strict rules of racing in Victoria. Is their anything in tridenosin that will return a positive Hi Bill, As far as I'm aware there is nothing in Tridenosen that is on the banned substances list. However as always if you have any concerns you should check with your veterinarian prior to using this product. Keep in mind that if it's used IV it must be injected very slowly to avoid any likelihood of a possible analeptic shock reaction. Cheers, Tom
