Hi, my dog is sore on his off fore wrist after racing, its the front which is sore not a stopper tendon, i am cold hosing etc and the soreness eases normally after 3 or 4 days.
Any ideas to help keep him sound enough to race every couple of weeks, hes only entered for races up to 300 metres max.

Hi esteve,
I do not understand why, when the dog pulls up sore every run, the injury is not being treated and healed.
There is nothing I can tell you that could be of any use in keeping the greyhound on the track with an injury regardless of the distance its being raced over. In fact if you cannot run the greyhound often enough to keep it fit, no matter what distance you run over, each run is going to cause stress problems and do damage to the greyhounds metabolism.
If the greyhound is pulling up sore in the front of the wrist it is because the wrist is flexing too far causing the base of the radius to grind against the bone directly below it, and that can only happen if the accessory carpal ligaments at the back of the wrist have sustained damage at one time or another and are now no longer capable of holding the wrist in the correct position when the pressure is placed on the wrist.
You need to have the greyhound checked by someone that is competent enough to identify the exact problem, and advise you how to heal the injury.
Cheers, Tom
