Hi Tom,
One more question sorry to bother you so much.
My greyhound is fast out the boxes but never wants to cross the field, is there a specific thing I can do to try cure this as it costs him the will to win ?

Hi Andross,
Not a lot of good news I afraid.
Once a greyhound has developed a bad habit it is extremely difficult to cure. In fact if a greyhound has reacted a certain way in a specific circumstance 20 times in a row it is just about impossible.
In your situation the only thing you could try is to make to dog keener on catching the lure, as it is that endeavour that will make a greyhound go to the rails to get as close as possible to the lure.
I have tried to cure a greyhound that had been hit by the lure, and was just too scared to get close to it, and as a result ran wide right around the whole track while still appearing to chase hard and would still run good time. Unfortunately regardless of what I tried the greyhound would not get anywhere near the lure, and just could not be cured of the bad habit of running around the race track while keeping close to the outside fence.
Cheers, Tom
