hi tom i have a 8 month old sap that has a swelling where neck meets the torso just above front of shoulder...its soft and about size of an egg under the skin...i gave him synolux tablet an antibiotic in case of an infection....when he was 5 months old he had sort of a similar swelling in hock area....a friend said was an infection site and injected him with betamox and cleared it up in a few days....is this something similar?

Hi Dave,
If the swelling is soft it is most likely fluid as a result of superficial damage from a nip by a yard or kennel mate. An antibiotic cover for five days is always a good idea just in case.
Cheers, Tom
