Hi Ken,
I would rather see this product used after racing to aid recovery.
Pre-race injections far too often cause pain at the injection site, or nausea when given IV.
The beneficial effects of the ingredients are not good enough to take that sort of risk without trying it first when trialling.
Cheers, Tom

Tom, Troy Aminoforte is a virtual dead ringer for Aminolite 34X at half the price and is being widely used nowdays by the greyhound fraternity for that very reason alone. As you would be well aware most greyhound trainers have been using Aminolite 34X via the Oral route both pre-race and post-race in preference to the I/V application anyhow. I find Troy Amonoforte given orally to be as you suggest best used as a recovery aid for several days post-race. As you would also no doubt be aware Dr. Gannon always recommended using Aminolite 34X orally in greyhounds and was of the opinion it worked equally as effectively as when given I/V. www.troylab.com.au/petproducts.php?tid=4&iid=18&pid=189

Hi Joe great to hear from you again, and wishing you and yours the very best for 2013.
You are absolutely right the oral route is the safest way to go, and I was mainly concerned about someone following the on package directions, that included SC and IV, and using it prior to racing without knowing what the effects would be on that individual greyhound.
There is nothing wrong with two or three ml over the tongue before and after racing, and while it may not make a great deal of difference in the performance it would certainly help recovery, particularly when given within one hour after strenuous exercise as at that time the body is most receptive to absorbing amino acids, electrolytes, and glucose.
Cheers, Tom

Hi Pj,
Both products are very similar and may be used for the same purpose.
The main reason that these types of products are similar but not identical in their formulation, is that manufacturers must register their formulation, and have them approved by the appropriate Authority before they can be marketed.
Cheers, Tom
