i have a bitch here that is terrible in the van but kennels perfectly fine when i get her to the track she frets and pants from the moment i put her in the van until she gets home she is losing weight sometimes 1 or 2lb with the drive to and from the track,you would think she would lie down after a race but she doesnt 3 hours drive home and she is still panting when i get there i have her in darkness so she cant see out--doesnt work tried her in the portamag while travelling---doesnt work changed the mat in the van to paper bedding the same as what she kennels on ---doesnt work either any advice appreciated shes a 28.50 bitch so deserves to take her chance in the big bitch stakes but the travelling is doing her no good at all

Hi Jack,
Apologies for the late reply, and I’m sorry to say that I have no answer to the problems you are having with your girl.
You have certainly tried everything possible to overcome the situation.
I have been in a similar dilemma, and did not find an answer that did not involve medications that either affected the race performance and/or would have resulted in a positive swab.
The best results I did have was with a drug called Stemetil (prochlorperazine) by giving two 5 mg tablets with breakfast and one additional tablet 1 hour prior to leaving home when trialing that night.
Unfortunately the use of this drug prior to racing is guaranteed to result in a positive swab.
