Hi Ellen,
That is certainly very unusual, I have only ever heard of an Italian greyhound with one brown and one blue eye.
Sometimes puppies have what look like blue eyes when they first open them, but these then get darker as they get older and become more of a golden colour by the time they are 6 months old.
While I honestly see no problems as far as a racing career is concerned, you do need to keep in mind that the dark coloured eyes are there due to the amount of melanin in the eye, and this does provide protection against ultra violet light.
A blue eye does not have this protection and is therefore more likely to suffer from sun damage.
The difference in the colour of the eyes is due to what is known as the Merle Gene.
However if you wish to know more about this particular gene and what it means, you may have to Google it, as it would take me an A4 page typed full to explain it. LOL
Cheers, Tom

Hi Ellen,
While dogs do blink to moisten their eyes, unlike humans who when they look towards bright sunlight narrow their eyes, dogs don’t unless they are about to fall asleep, and therefore the only thing you can do to stop accumulated sun damage over a long period of time, is limiting the time she spends outside in the middle of the day during bright sunny days.
Cheers, Tom
