Hi tom,
just wanted to know what could help in getting a dog over the last 50 metres of 500+m race. seems to loose it in the at last 50 metres.
PCv was very low for a long time around the 51% and only the last 8 months have fixed this problem and pcv is around the 59- 60% mark. whole career has been raced over the 400-450m and only last 3 starts increased to 500m. could this affect and require a change in body physiology as the dog is 4 now and may require adapting to the new race distance. Cheers Karl

Hi Karl,
There is no doubt that at 4 years of age, and racing all this time over the 400/450 metre journey, that the whole of the greyhounds system has totally adapted to using all of it’s energy over that distance.
So therefore the main thing that may help is to increase the usable energy stores in the muscle tissue, improving blood flow through to muscle tissue, and making secondary energy more available.
The injections that may help in this regard are:
Tridenosen 5 ml (2 X 2-1/2 ml) at 48 hours prior if used intramuscular, or 24 hours prior if you are comfortable injecting via slow intravenous. This assists in increasing energy in muscle tissue.
L-Carnitine 2 ml intramuscular only at 36 hours prior. This assists in making fatty acids more available for use as a secondary energy source.
DADA 250 1 ml intramuscular only at 24 hours prior to increase blood flow.
Other than that there is not a lot you can do, as at 4 years of age adapting to running over a longer distance may simply not be possible for the greyhound anymore without stressing or increasing injury problems.
Cheers, Tom

Hi Karl,
You may if you wish, however I personally prefer at least 12 hours between intramuscular injections.
Cheers, Tom

Thanks for info tom
what do you think about dynacliene injectable or atepadene 30 mg oral would they work and how do they compare to the Tridenosen.
And injectable vs the oral what is more superior?
cheers Karl
