Hi Tom,
Just wanting to know your thought on Testaprop to keep bitches off season.
It seems to me that many people are using it in 1/4ml doses fortnightly and not having any issues with swabs.
Can you provide me with any answers as i have a few bitches due on season soon and would prefer to keep racing them than have them come on.
Cheers Mike

Hi Mike,
As you are probably aware the use of any steroid including Testoprop on a racing greyhound is banned in Australia.
However due to the problems experienced by many trainers in keeping their bitches off season some have turned to Testoprop as their only viable alternative.
The most effective dose appears to be 1/4 of a ml injected intramuscular on a weekly basis, and to minimise the chances of the use of this product causing a positive swab this is used 5 clear days prior to racing.
To this point in time such use has not resulted in a positive swab, however the analytical laboratories are continually refining their swabbing methods and therefore there is no guarantee that the use of Testosterone Propionate may not result in a positive swab in the future.
Cheers, Tom
