Hi,
Im just posting this to find out some information on what raw meats can be used in a greyhounds diet. Is mutton/lamb an option to feed Greyhound pups and Race dogs on? Trainers seem to prefer beef, chicken, roo etc, is there a reason for this? would Lamb meat be acceptable to be used instead of beef? Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
The main reason that some types of meat are used by trainers in preference to others is mainly due to the cost of the meat, rather than one being better than another for the dogs.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with feeding pups or a racing greyhound lamb or mutton.
Cheers, Tom

Thans for your quick response tom,
I'm just about to start rearing a few pups, and a couple older greyhounds. I have many sheep on my property, and all the tools required to process them. So if the meats nutritional value is the same as beef? Then mutton will be the cheaper option for me. Thanks for your advice tom.

Mutton is great for pups, give them the tripes as well,I would wash them out first, big strips of the stuff to tear at,really good for them ;D
