Hi Bill,
With the treatment you have applied, and with 4 weeks rest he should be healed enough for a free gallop anytime you wish. Just keep in mind that an injury such as that will be inclined to have healed a little tighter than preferred, and after the next couple of gallops you will most likely need to ice the area and apply Hirudoid cream again.
Cheers, Tom

Thanks Tom I also have a dog coming back from a gracilis injury, is swimming any good for his rehab ? Hi Bill, Swimming would be good except that most greyhounds tend to swim with their front legs while the back legs just quietly float along. Walking, particularly up a slight incline would be better, especially if each walk was followed by massage to the gracilis and hamstring, and most importantly stretches. The problem with most gracilis injuries is the scar tissue that tends to form rapidly, and then the fact that it shortens the stride when the hind foot is placed forward. Therefore regular massage to soften the muscle tissue, followed by ten stretches. The type that brings the hind foot inline with the joint where the front leg meets the shoulder blade. Cheers, Tom
