Hi Tom hopefully you can help me, I have 8 greyhounds in training and 6 of them after exercise have a problem with their diaphragm banging[thumps] the dogs are in great form and running well, they recover quickly and are always looking for more work, when I spin their blood it's always give or take 60. I don't feed nuts or any rubbish to my dogs and when they are racing they see out the 4 bends no problem, but after exercise their diaphragm goes crazy and it's driving me crazy, I hardly use any supplements, maybe a small amount of iron when needed, I would be grateful for your input, thanks Tom

Hi Adam, sorry about the late reply.
Mate the most common reasons for this occurring are all related to dehydration and abnormal electrolyte levels, often involving lower than required blood calcium levels.
So to get on top of this it would be best to get a full blood profile done on the Greyhound worst affected, and then work out the appropriate course of action for all the dogs in training, particularly in relation to adjusting the diet to include the full range of required electrolytes including calcium.
Cheers, Tom
